PESO Gensan receives citation award

GENERAL SANTOS CITY (10 November 2015) – The Public Employment Services Office (PESO) of General Santos City has received a citation award from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) for being the top performer for the region. The awarding ceremony was held on October 26 during the 15th PESO Congress at the PICC, Pasay City. PESO Gensan earned the nomination for 2014 National Best PESO Award – Highly Urbanized City Category. The award was given through City Mayor Ronnel Rivera and PESO manager Nurhasan Juanday. “In Region 12’s more than 60 PESO managers, we are the nominee of the region for the national award mao nga natagaan tag citation as nominee in the national award,” said Juanday. “Among the 1,500 plus participants, 30 lang mi ang natagaan ug citation award. It means nga gina recognize sa national government ang effort nga atong gihimo as far as PESO mandate is concerned,” he added. The citation award recognizes its wholehearted and unwavering support in the promotion and delivery of DOLE’s Employment Program. The award was a result of two previous recognitions garnered by PESO Gensan in 2014 namely; Outstanding Performance as 2013 Best Program implementer of SPES in Region 12 and Outstanding Performance of PESO manager in the delivery of employment programs and services to DOLE clients and LGU constituents in the region. “Last year pa nato nakuha ang regional award mao nga nag qualify ta sa national award,” Juanday explained. Among the LGUs in Region 12, PESO Gensan has the biggest allocation for SPES program. This year’s appropriation as LGU counterpart for SPES amounted to P4 million. “Kung wala ang suporta ni mayor, dili pud ta mag qualify for national kay gipondohan man ug dako ni mayor ang atong ubang program, labi na ang SPES,” said Juanday. He hoped that next year, they will try even harder to win the national PESO award. For now, the office is busy preparing for the 20th anniversary of PESO Gensan institutionalization on December 21. A job fair will be held on November 20 as a prelude to the celebration. In the succeeding weeks, a series of activities will also be conducted such as feeding programs, distribution of livelihood starter kit package, free haircut, tree planting and tribute and thanksgiving.
